It is the portrayal of fictional or non-fictional events through the performance of writing dialog in front of an audience. Dramas are most notably performed as plays in a theatre though many dramas have been recreated and adapted for film, TV, or radio. Nowadays, drama is commonly used to describe a genre of storytelling in film and television like The Godfather or The Expanse. Despite what the name implies, dramas are not always serious. There are 5 types of classic dramas that are all unique from each other: comedy, tragedy, farce, melodrama, and musical drama.
Film, or cinema, basically means moving images - images of time, space, sound and story, has enjoyed tremendous popularity ever since its first appearance in Europe and America in the last part of ninetenth century. The film industry has grown rapidly due to people's interest in making and especially, watching films. With annual Bollywood's production reaches more than eight hundred films in average and Hollywood's is close to half the number of it, people can have so many choices to watch. Although most people watch films for entertainment, many become more interested in discussing what makes a film good or bad. Some film goers will probably not be satisfied by watching how the story goes, but they might be disturbed by what ideas underlying the story and why the story goes in certain way. It is for the purpose of analyzing films critically - both its forms and context - that film studies emerged.
In its form, film, is not only telling stories but also showing ideas - politically and philosophically. Visual images presented in a film are not always as what they are per se. They may have different meanings and understandings. Furthermore, whether we like it or not, films have shaped ideas and values held by many people nowadays. These aspects of non-cinematography - contextually and receptively - which are represented by sound and visual images are also the concern of film studies.
It is a daytime serial with a dramatic content shown on television or broadcast on the radio, which deals with the lives of many characters. The central elements of the serials' content usually gravitate towards issues such as love, family, intimate relationships and other domestic concerns. Nevertheless, the genre has been characterized by a process of diversification, in which family conflicts are colored by social and political issues. This type of series is characterized by the absence of a specific ending when production begins, which makes its show extend for years that may reach thousands of episodes.
The soap opera emerged in the US radio industry of the early 1930s when the advertising agencies of the soap, toiletry, and foodstuff industries took on the role of developing programs that could attract a female audience. The first program generally considered to be a )soap opera( or daytime serial is Painted Dreams, which premiered on WGN radio Chicago, on October 20, 1930. It was regularly broadcast in a daytime time slot, where most listeners would be housewives; thus, the shows were aimed at – and consumed by – a predominantly female audience. Clara, Lu, 'n Em would become the first network radio serial of the type when it aired on the NBC Blue Network on January 27, 1931.
It is a system for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens, chiefly used to broadcast programs for entertainment, information, and education. The television set has become a commonplace in many households, businesses, and institutions. It is a major vehicle for advertising. Few inventions have had as much effect on contemporary American society as television. Jeff Greenfield, a media observer, stated "Television is the pervasive American pass time cutting through geographic, ethnic class and cultural diversity, it is the single binding thread of this country, the one experience that touches young and old, rich and poor, learned and illiterate" (Biagi 2005). In 1948, only one percent of America’s households had a TV set; by 1953 more than 50 percent had one; and since the early 1960’s, more than 90 percent of all homes have a television set (Campbell, Martin & Fabos 2012). From mechanical television to electronic television, there continues to be a shift in how televisions are viewed today.
